Gimme some twists in stories or endings...pleeze!!!

Beginner here...have story plot, characters, etc. all set up. Need ideas for twists and endings that are NOT predictable. The plot and characters are the typical ones. The story is M/F, nc, revenge, humiliation, bondage, slavery...etc.

I am an avid reader of numerous, well written, and badly written stories, the ending is usually predictable! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. :help:

    Hi Nikita,
I too love to put some twists in a story. It's nice if you can hit the reader with an ending they just don't see coming. My only advice is to remember that the sub in R/L has a lot more control than the average BDSM story gives them. They can often use that control (even in nc situations) to teach the master/reader or just to revel in their submission. There are of course other surprises you can pull out of your hat. Don't be afraid to go back and tweak the story to fit into a great ending you came up with after the fact.
    Yours truly,

While awfully difficult to give out plot advice without a vague plot, how about having someone un-expected come in? A police officer to rescue the kidnap victim? Someone who was "in on the whole thing" gets revenge on the one enslaving the other? Or some other random passerby? How would each of the main characters feel when they saw the new person?

I see your point of view...assuming you are a bottom, this twist could juice you very much and rightly so.

Say the heroine(s) don't know a shit about BDSM; they always control every situation they are in, then suddenly, they have that control taken away from them, and they relunctantly come to enjoy and then crave it? Do you think that would that be a real juicer for the majority of the readers? For me, this would seem to be an expected ending and not a real surprise twist. Just asking...

    Hi Nikita

My view is that the author doesn't have to think of the twist, that's the characters' job! In other words - if you can create interesting and well rounded characters they should contribute a few plot ideas of their own. And don't get hung up on a twist, sometimes a thoughtful and elegant ending is better.

    best wishes

Hadn't thought of the characters providing the twist. I must "think" as if I were the character. Sounds like "method" writing, as in "method" acting. This is a very different excercise to try. "Gotta try it to buy it!"

You have no idea what peril this exercise will put me in! :bondbud: !

    Thanks for your reply.

You are one of my favorite writers. Looking forward to reading the next chapter to "Even Ponygirls get the Blues".

Care to share how do you know so much about the subject of Ponygirls and sex slaves?

We don't call them 'secret societies' for nothing, you know.

That is the best 'method', However it might not agree with your style, sensitivity or what are you aiming at. You might want to 'construct' the story and stick to it as suggested.

One of the most common methods of creating a twist is to leave out (ok hide) some important fact about a character or situation. Then when you spring it at the reader it can cast completely new light on what's really going on,

(Turns out he's an alien? He/she is actually an agent for enormous secret society, led by immortal DeVinci, and the whole story is just a subplot and you can develop all you want until you get bored?) OK so these are banal, think of some new ones

It could be many things - If the pair are stopped for a broken tail light, and it turns out there is an arrest warrant out for one or the other, that would be unexpected.
Tying someone up in an awkward position (such as bent over a chair, or impaled on a dildo pole), then having them move from something may cause a broken bone. How do you explain that on a hospital injury report?
Twists are possible, but are all character and plot dependent.

    Hi nikita,
Hard to give specific ideas without knowing or having read the outline. I do it this way, once I have my plot line and charcters assembled. I decide where each character is supposed to end up in the story. ie die, move away, being sold etc etc. Then based on that I outline 2 or three different endings. Once I get to the last chapter I then decide which ending works best. This might be helpful to you in developing a twist for your story.

Should a "beginner" not read more? There is a feeling that your longing for a more O'Henry sort of ending might prevail with further preserverance.
