I don't know about the other software you're thinking of, but AVG will run auto scans for virus, spyware, etc.

I was told it's a good idea to runa separate firewall and I go ahead and run windows defender too. With Windows stellar record on security issues, I'm not sure what it's worth. lol

Ok i have 2 firwalls I have Uverse with AT&T which has a bulit in firwall as well and my windws xp firewall

As far as I know, that should cover you.

This config was suggested to me by somebody who knows much more about it than I do and it's working fine.

I'd be interested to hear others feedback on this.

Thanks so would I i am holding off instaling anything on my main system til i have what I want so i am using my backup system now
