Does anyone remember White Shadow's Nasty Stories archive? What a golden era. It has had the same sort of "get your free password NOW while you can!" thing up for a long time, probably years, where you have to put in a credit card number to verify that you're 18. For the safety of the children, supposedly, but it looks kind of shady. Has anyone tried doing this, and did you get shafted somehow? I'd love to go find those old stories that I can't remember names of, nor authors, but I'm not really looking forward to identity theft and/or other horrible things that might happen. Anyone got a solution/experienced something with this?

I partook but it was in the early days and you could actually download most of that stuff without signing up. There were backdoors into the stories portion of the site. I collected a lot of the LLP & RWS stories.

Never did the age verification thing for just the reason you stated. Even if they're not taking identities, every porn site will spam you to get you signed on for a tryout... buy one and they'll all know.

Whiteshadows was probably the first online story collection I visited when I first got access to the internet. The way around the age verification is still the same today as it has been all those years ago.

I'm not sure if it is allowed to explain the little trick, so I won't do it, sorry. But it's not too hard to figure out.

I remember Whiteshadows very well. I used to check that place often and read a ton of the stories there.

I did try to get a password and login for the place sometime a year or two ago. I certainly did receive a working login, but in that same month someone used my credit card to buy a subscription for a $40.00 per month porn site I had never heard of.

I am not sure if it was a coincidence or not....

EDIT: Does anyone else remember the other sister-site for Whiteshadows? I think it was called the Black Lair or the Black Dungeon something. I remember that the stories that were there were very hardcore compared to the average story on Whiteshadows. I would like to see some of those again.

Okay, here is the little explanation on how to get the stories without the password:

If you want to read a story and klick on it, you'll see a site which asks you to get a "Free Permanent Password". If you take a look at the URL of this site you'll notice that it looks something like .../bridge2/bdsm/outofcommission.html

If you now remove the bridge2/ part and press enter you'll get the story you want to read. Easy, isn't it.

If you would have read that page completely, you would have notice that they gave you a free trial subscription to a porn site. You had to cancel before 10 days or you would have been charged the regular fee.
Our local telephone company offered web access on their screenphone (text only) I was able to bypass all these passwords without any problems. I used it for a year before I purchased my first computer.
There was a site called the BlackShadow.
