Nikka: As for the Islamic admonition, "God is great", I believe Allah Akubar! is a bit more precise than Allah Akbar.

Hmmm. Actually, Bruce's shout of Allah Akbar is perfectly acceptable, together with many other permutations. However a google search reveals that Allahu Akbar is by far the most common variant.

The same phonetic translation problem occurs with most other Arabic phrases too. Trying to put some Arabic flavour into a recent story gave me many similar dilemmas. It's a fascination language, and (apparently) not so difficult to learn as one might suppose.

Oh, and back on topic, my nom de plume derives from a nickname my friends called me. Recently I received a nice email from a real Aurelius inquiring as to whether I was a long-lost relative . Alas the answer was no.
