Interesting point. I had never really considered how hooding might appeal to some subs. Given what has been said here, it is something I'd certainly bring up with any sub I had in future.
However, to me hooding is not sensory deprivation. Sensory deprivation would encompass a hood or blindfold, but it would also include earbuds to eliminate ambient sound, heavily perfumed candles to mask smells, hot spices to overload taste, and hands encased in thumbless mittens. (This is something I've thought about, but never had an opportunity to practice.)
