Inflicting pain on yourself to find your tolerance is about like masturbating to understand sex. Not terribly effective. There are so many things that you can't really do to yourself and your frame of mind will be radically different. Something else to consider is that pain tolerance is not fixed. It can and will change a lot from day to day and situation to situation. I understand that you are eager to gain information, however this is one those areas where you can't really know without direct experience.
