God speaking to man? Hmmm, does it happen... that is a totally different topic and debate. How does he want us to live? He pretty clearly spelled it out between the covers of the bible. There are many passages within that are hard to understand, and I belive god gave us the intelligence to understand what we need, to know how to live as he thought we should. So if some stuff is too hard to understand, you probably didn't need to anyway.

I hesitate to ask this for fear of offending, but I honestly would really like to know . . . why do people take the Bible as the actual Word of God? At best, it seems to me to be the Word of God as written down by flawed humans. We even have different versions of the Bible. I understand having faith in God, but why do people have faith that the humans who wrote the Bible didn't allow their own limitations and prejudices to influence what they wrote? If you don't mind explaining to me, I would really like to try to understand.

After I posted, I realized I probably should have posted my question as a new thread in the "Vanilla" section. My apologies.

Wow what a thread. I’ve just come out of a very controlling church I was in for 18 years. I have not forsaken the Lord just the church. It’s awesome to see this type of subject discussed.
You can see in your messages that you know what you have to do to keep the faith. I agree that it’s going to be a fine line and a hard thing to do. You can do it!!!
I envy you your partnership. I wish mine could be so full of openness.

I'm 'so' touched that the few threads I have created...are getting so much positive attention. This forum has 'greatly' changed since the first time I was a regular about two years ago. Much more maturity, understanding and just a far better crowd of members.

I've gained so many different apects of what I was seeking, it is kind of refreshing. I'm glad this thread alone has opened some eyes, raised some questions within people's own hearts and just turned into a healthy discussion.

On that note, I did some soul searching of my own. I've come to a decision of leaving the forum (again). No, it was NOTHING anyone said - trust me. Personally, I just feel like there are too many temptations to affect my concentration and daily thought process. The stories, the avatars, the pictures - just too much for me. I learned I'm not strong enough, inside, to look past these little things and be able to maturly discuss the BDSM role in my marriage.

With my own experiences, over 10+ years - I have no problem 'spicing' things up in the bedroom now. Through my return, I realize I couldn't treat my wifey like a true slave/submissive based on several factors I just do not want to get into. However, it is fun incorporating little aspects of B & D to have a little fun. Thanks for helping me see that.

Through my short stay, I've meet so many 'cool' people that I want to continue to build relationships with. So, people like cariad, stillbehindblueeyes, ruby, alex bragi - please continue to talk with me via email. Also, I open an invitation to anyone who'd like to talk with me after my departure to email me. I love to chit-chat! Email is poeticchristian@gmail.com.

I apologize for the short stay, but loved the impact my visit had. Thanks for showing me love/respect as it meant the world to me. I'll check back the next few days for replies to this thread then I'm going to kind of disappear. So, email me when possible. Otherwise - thank you all.

MoF - I appreciate your ability to know what your striving for, and do what you need to, so that you are able to achieve it. I am glad you had a postitive experience on the forms. As far as if you can have your wife as a "true" submissive, never let anyone define what that would really be, except you and your wife. If anyone else gives you a definition that isn't what you think. Then they are the ones who are wrong. Not you.

Remember, the relationship you have with your wife, and how you conduct your marriage is of your choosing, if you and her want her to be submissive, and whatever actions you decide define that. Then that is how it is.

I wish you good luck and godspeed good man.

You may private message me at anytime. I found you respectful and kind. I never have a problem talking things over with someone who is brutally honest. My email is IDCrewDawg@hotmail.com should you desire to contact me.

    ManOf Faith,

Not many with such strong convictions left in this world. I applaud you. Good luck in the future and I'm sure God will be with you.

war & ID - Thank you so much for the kind words and observations. I'm touched.

I do stay true to my wife, her needs/desires and vice versa. We do not allow others (except thy Lord) to dictate our actions. No worries there. TY for the kind words.

I'll miss ppl. like the two of you here...

    MoF,

I did post earlier in this thread, and have kept up with it since. There are a few questions that have come up that really get to the heart of what is today modern faith, and how it’s practiced.

I am sure given the date, that everyone has heard the debate over the Da Vinci Code. A lot of what we know as modern religion is what 2 centuries after Christ died was written by scholars, who had a lot of selfish reasons for what was written. A famous Football Player Reggie White, who was a pastor in his church, used the money he earned to do more than just teach what his Bible said. He spent 2 years of his life researching, learning and actually reading the REAL documents. In an interview he gave before his death, He stated how much different the real gospels were than the book he was raised with.

Prior to the 3rd century, Celibacy wasn’t a requirement to be a priest in the church. Celibacy was put in the doctrine as a way of stopping community property between a Husband and wife. They didn’t want to share with a priest’s wife, what was collected by the church.

There are whole Gospels that were left out of the Bible for one reason or another. Much of what we call the Bible today was written to the specification of the King, King James II to be precise. When we are quoting scripture, In many cases, Its not what was originally within the books written by the Disciples, Its a abstract of what was written, to reflect the writers of the time.. Monk, Priest, Pope Or King.

In the 1600s the folks that landed on Plymouth Rock, left England because they didn’t want to follow the Church of England’s practices.

Even today, we see how religion is practiced via different interpretations of one book or another. The Mormons in Salt Lake City all claim to have denounced the practice of Polygamy, But there is a guy on the FBIs most wanted that was the head of a sect that still practiced it. We even have proof of other religions having their beliefs twisted into something else by ONE PERSONS belief.. Can you Say Bin Laden?

What I am trying to say is… And this is purely MY Belief, What one book or another, One Church or another tells us, is open to interpretation. I personally believe that so long as we as the inhabitants of this lovely planet, don’t go out of the way to HARM each other, Treat each other with some level of respect… Can you honestly say, that when you engage in D/s or B&D, that you don’t respect your supplicant any more or less?

These facts go into forming My Belief System, Is there a Force beyond human comprehension? That’s up to each of us to decide. How we act, and what we believe comes from what we are taught, and what each of us experiences. Do I believe there was a Someone watching over me at times in my life, Hell Yes... And to be absolutely honest, I was just as Kinky then as I am now..

While I am sure not everyone feels this way. It boils down to whatever you are comfortable with.
Some say man is just a beast in clothing, So what happens when we get naked? EVERYTHING

This thread has covered two distinct themes:

    1. Practicing a loving BDSM relationship in context with one's spritual values

    and

    2. The temptations in our lives that can interfere with one's personal walk with the Lord, (Goddess and Consort or whatever deity/ies one follows.)

I'd like to thank everyone for their well thought out answers and support for ManOfFaith. This community has truly grown in the last few years and it's a pleasure to see the level of maturity in the conversations continue to rise.

A number of questions and side comments could well be made into threads of their own for further discussion.

If there's something a member here feels strongly about, please do open another thread on that topic.

    ---

    ManOfFaith, I'll miss you.
All the best in your walk with the Lord.

I have kept an interested eye on this thread. I am a Christian woman and fully understand your struggles. I applaud you doing what you feel in your spirit is the right thing to do. I'm sorry to see you leave the board because we need men of faith not afraid to speak their minds. But, I certainly understand the temptations and distractions, and we both know God wouldn't want that for you. God bless ManOfFaith.

:sheds a tear or two: Wowsers, the compliments and emotions continue even after my aforementioned departure. I'm truly touched by the reaching out of several members of this forum to me, my questions/situation, and viewpoints.

As Ruby mentioned, this forum has matured in a MAJOR way over the last few years. If i would of started such a thread when I was here a few years back - I would of been hung at the gallows persay. Anyway...

Everyone, PLEASE email me and KIT as I want to continue to form/build relationships with new people and be a positive light in your life.

    Email again is poeticchristian@gmail.com

"his_pita" - please contact me, as I feel we have much to discuss.

I'd be honored to stick around, but the temptations are too great. It is not that I'm weak nor not strong enough to resists such temptations with the Lord by my side. However, I feel kind of like i did what I was intended to do here and now must move on. haha Not sure, but...will miss you guys/gals!

Hi all (again). I want to thank the few that did contact me via email, but kind of was sad that there were only a few (and not ones he really misses like cariad).

I miss quite a few of you, but maybe i'm just a past thought now.

Any interested, my email again is listed above as poeticchristian@gmail.com.

    Miss you guys!
