Uploading from cell phone

Help!!

Actually, I've been thinking about this for quite some time...my only 'digital' camera is my cell phone. Admittedly poor quality, but it's better than nothing.

Now, while my cell phone is enough to file some sweet memories for myself *grins*, I've been meaning to share pictures with my Master for quite some time, but I didn't find a way to upload them to my notebook. The problem -

I don't have a cable to hook my cell to the laptop.
I don't have a clue how to use the email function on this - apparently this is an extra service that I'd have to buy??
I know I can send multi media messages, but this is way too expensive to send from Europe to the US...is there a way to send those messages to an email account?
And...no, I don't have infrared or bluetooth on my laptop, so that won't work, grrr.

Anybody who knows how to make this work anyway? Or if I have to invest money, would it be worth buying a cable or are they just too expensive?

If you get me hooked up...well, I promised to post a pic or two for Rabbit *gulps* (why the hell do I get myself into those situations???). So, if you want to see a bit of me....get those suggestions going.

"I'm not particular with your phone's capabilities but if it is capable of playing MIDI tones, then just upload it on the server where you use to host sites in (check usage licences). Next, using your phone's built-in web/wap browser type the exact location of your MIDI tone on the host computer. Don't forget to append the .midi or .mid file extension. this works even with pictures your cellphone is capable of displaying.

I'd just go to the nearest electronics or PC shop & ask them about it, myself.

I just read in our local newspaper to day about being extremely careful what you put on your cell phone. It appears that anything can be retrieve by any scoundrel that may come by your phone by any means even after you have discarded it. If you care to know more let me know and I'll see if I can't get you a link to that paper.

To answer your question about a cable, if there is any available for your cell phone, my guess is that it would be rather inexpensive to purchase. Mine doesn't have the capability of hooking to any cable but I do have a tiny reader card that I can take in and out of my phone and transfer anything from the cell to the computer.

I use mine all the time.

USUALLY its about 5 cents a picture or you can purchase an unlimited picture sending/email package for around $10.00 or smaller packages.

Basically when you go into your stroed photos you can click on it to "check" it then click options.. there should be an "UPLOAD" function in which USUALLY your phone company will provide you with an e-mail account to upload to...

OR.. you can e-mail or photo text them to people. I use Sprint a U.S. carrier and its quite eaasy.

What phone company do you have ? I am sure I can find a tutorial for you...

Tojo - nope, no idea what a midi file is, lol. The idea with the shop sounds good, though. I can just imagine myself going in there, showing the poor guy my photos and him doing the sending business for me *giggles*...might be a fun trip. And yeah, if it works, you get the photo, lol.

WB - I'm not worried about someone accessing my data...I have nothing to hide since I'm not in the UK *chuckles*...and aside from the shop idea, buying the cable sounds like it's one of the easier options...

Anya - I'm pretty sure the prices in Germany are a little higher than that. Communication is friggin expensive over here. *sighs* I'll have to contact my provider (Vodafone) about this...

Silke, it's not that you have anything to hide it's that anything can be retrieved like passwords, text messaging, or bank information if you ever use it for anything like that. A fellow was caught in an illicit affair because text messaging was retrieved from his cell by his wife's attorney.

They say most phones have a method to permanently erase everything through the use of certain key combinations but you have to get a hold of the phone manufacture to get that combination.

Oh! Just gave it a try and it worked, lol. Now to the bad news...the pictures were taken in the dark and the quality of my cell phone camera sucks - only one photo came out pretty much visible on my computer. Sorry, Rabbit...just a facial. I'll post it on the Hurricane thread for ya, but I guess it won't make this a fair trade, lol.

A simple USB port lead from your phone to PC/Laptop - plug it where you recharge your phone to the PC port, usually next o the memory stick port and download. Mine came free with the handset, it's a simple accessory and bought a new one for £5.99. You can change your phone settings to take excellent full pixelated photos. I noticed one of Asia's was a mobile phone photo. I think you guys call them cell phones. lol. Ignornant Brit here

LOL! It's actually getting better than buying a digital camera, I spend in excess of £2K for a decent camera without fixtures, but a good Nokia or 3G phone are just as good plus you get the video with sound too. If you need any tips, just ask Silke, be glad to help any budding photographers. Just type 'usb cable mobile phones' into Google and have one posted out by the next day!

Well, my mobile phone camera isn't the best, but it'll have to do. And it's not like I want to become a star photographer...I just want to share a bit of me occasionally.
