What?

What do I write what do I say
Except that I miss you every day
Here I sit a King on a meaningless throne
And listen to the masses drone

I miss listening to the beat of your heart
The cool of your touch, the warmth of your gaze
My world is empty without you a horse without a cart
And I’m lost in my tears constant haze

Where are you my Amethyst, where are you my love
How did I lose you, did you fly away like a dove
Years turned into fleeting moments and memory
Laughter turned to sadness and melancholy

You were all that is good in me
And now it’s too late I’m resigned to my fate
I was too blind to see
The horse has bolted and I’ve shut the gate

So much self recrimination and self reproach
I’m torn and gutted, lost, a self pitying approach
Such an example of what you want in your man
Why you left me I’m beginning to understand.

And yet I hope and wonder if it’s in vain
I dream of a future together without pain
More powerful together than apart
Taking a chance and making a new start

And I dare not breathe or blink or you will be gone
And it will be as the cynics said all along.
I love you so very much
And that you like me is enough till we touch.
