has anyone ever found any bdsm or similar referances on TV or movies, i ask because i was watching the simpsons reacently and homer a friend (who was supposed to marry Otto) an the kids were shootong a music video, marge (thinking homer and Ottos alomst wife) were having an affair, Homer was dressed in leather underwear and leathr straps around his chest.
Marge said some thing along the lines of, "homer, as your dressed for the occesion, iv got some S/M for you, Scrubbing and Mopping"
and obviously one of my fave films "secretary",
just wondering, because BDSM is not accepting as mainstream (due to unimaganationative prejudiced people) but does sometimes appear.

For clarity, My question is has anyone found referances to BDSM in mainstream TV/ Film?

There are several BDSM references which have been documented in this forum and elsewhere.

CSI has had more than one episode with a BDSM theme.

Phantom of the Opera, if you listen to the words, definitely has the Phantom as the dom and Christine as the sub.

I can't think of any specific favorites right now, but I do remember an old episode of He-Man where the evil woman captured He-Man's female companion-I don't remember the names lol-and she had her shackled up on this pillar and was just about to whip the hell out of her when He-Man showed up to save the day. Yeah you won't see a lot of BDSM action, but overall the movie really is good.

Kiss The Girls is an excellent movie. More about non-consensual sex, rape as a projection of power... and not so much about bdsm or related lifestyles.

Damn, I've been trying to find a new rendition of that for a couple days now. I found the '75 Version, but I'm too young to appreciate the gritty quality of the movie. Us youngin's want HQ and we want it today. It would be interesting to see who the decided to cast in the movie if they did do a remake. I wonder if PD would do it if they asked him too? (Insex.com and Hardtied.com for those of you who don't know).

Also, would it be as great as the original?

There is Just Jeacin Historie d'O (shorter and longer, uncesored version. No, it is not hardcore) Then there is Italian/Brasilain series.

Wether the movie is good or not is a matter of taste but is certany worth checking out.

"The Punishment of Anne". It's an adaptation of L'Image by Catherine Robbe Grillet. Her husband is Alain Robbe Grillet. His books and films have a lot of bdsm references, bondage imagery etc. My favorite is L'Immortelle, his first feature. It has many references to BDSM; like invisible D/s postures, s&m games ( distance and discipline etc ). The story is about a man who meets a woman in a foreign country. It's hinted that she works for a white slavery ring ( she says stuff like "women disappear for no reason" and "in the docks, a new life waits for them" The strange construction of her sentences bring an eerie quality to the film ). "N" ( the man ) and "L" ( the woman ) have a weird, almost s&m relationship. Then the woman disappears ( for no apparent reason ) and the man searches for her around the city.

I also like his books very much. It's like bondage poetry, full of mystery. La belle captive is a good intro to his work. It's inspired by Magritte's paintings.

I'm making my sub rent "The Secretary". I had completely forgotten bout this movie until the other day when we were renting office space. I saw it and told her that she was to rent it before Sunday. Much guffawing and excuses later, she agreed... Now I must call and find out if she did.

Anyways, I digress. If you haven't seen it, you should. A woman applies for a job as a secretary and ends up as her bosses sex slave/work slave... very good. Has Maggie gylenhall and James Spader.

I love the secretary, the whole feeling of the film is great, i thought is shows maggies submission wonderfully, and the story is strangly heart warming, and its not porn so i can keep it with my normal dvds and nobody bats an eye lid, wonderfull,

I like Secretary a lot. It shows a woman discovering her submissive side, a man afraid to be a full-time, loving dom, and how they work to make it into a lifelong D/s relationship. Very sweet, I think, and a portrayal of a healthy relationship. Although a boss who really did that would probably be arrested, it makes a nice transition from a fantasy premise to a realistic relationship. Like others have said, it doesn't show a lot of serious action. But if you can see what it implies and fill in the details with your imagination, there's a lot there.

You might like 9 1/2 Weeks. I just watched it last night. It was pretty hot (and I was pretty drunk watching it--lol). A man is in touch with his dom nature, a woman is not very in touch with her sub nature, and he seduces her, but they can't make the transition from sexual affair to loving relationship. He keeps pushing the limits faster than she's ready to move. But you'll see some neat scenes with blindfolds and humiliation. And this one, like Secretary, is one you can keep with your Disney cartoon collection. :-)

Ooh. Another one you might check out is Sunset Boulevard. It's an old black & white movie, but well paced (sometimes I find old movies move too slowly). A guy's car breaks down, and the nearest house is that of a rich old silent film star and her butler. He unwittingly becomes her guest/employee/companion/accessory. She's creepy, and the way she hired her butler is even creepier. But her confidence in using him is kind of hot.

Well, I don't know about keeping it with my Disney collection, but I can't put it out on the shelf with the rest of my regular movies. Anymore, though, I'ld have to say that the Disney movies are "soft" porn, as well, what with all the recent "accidental additions" to the clips.

I just watched the secretary lastnight. I'm glad I made my sub rent it. >sigh< nice.

We have to say that the Secretary is quite possibly one of the best movies out there. It accurately portrays the emotions of discovery. I feel that no one can possibly say that they did not have some conflict when they were discovering their "dark side". The film is based on a short story from a book called Bad Behavior, the story is not nearly as good and the book in and of itself is mostly about women working as prostitutes and strippers, but an entertaining read nonetheless. I have seen a lot of reference to BDSM in pop culture, just look at any music video, but some of my favorites come from the Family Guy!
