Daylight Savings Time

I was wondering when Jinn was planning to change the site clock to account for the time change a week ago (two weeks in England). Adding an hour to every timestamp I see is more mental effort than a man of my age should be required to engage in on a daily basis.

My computer's time is correct. The only thing that's wrong are the timestamps on the posts and PMs. I'm usually on around midnight, and it's a little confusing when it's 12:45am and the time stamps are telling me that 5am posts are from today.

Perhaps I'm missing something. What do you mean by "updated"? My computer automatically updates its own date and time, but it doesn't have any influence over the site's.

Go to your user cp and check your user options. There's a section for time and date options. Make sure your time zone setting is correct and also make sure the option to automatically detect DST settings is correct, too.

I hate daylight savings! I have to go and learn all new timezone conversions...
My timestamps are all good at the moment though, it's only out by a few minutes compared to my own clock.
Interesting question for Jinn... does SQL store dates wth daylight savings, or without and let the accessing software convert? I would have thought that when the time changed, you could lose data integrity by having two times the same. (Sorry, I'm doing SQL at the moment at Uni Learning all about this stuff.)

Well, I got it fixed, at least for now. I changed to option setting from "Automatically Detect DST" to "Always On DST". Now I'll just need to remember to set it to "Always Off DST" in another 6+ months.

It was right before and quite happily working at GMT+1.

Then I log on today and it says the time is 9:37AM and still GMT+1 but the watch on my wrist quite clearly says it is 1:37PM and I know that's right because I'm eating my lunch, not breakfast.

So what's goin on there then??

That happened to me as well. Check to see what time zone your user options are set for. Mine were fine and then they somhow changed, and I had to reset the zone. It's gremlins I tell you!

I have just checked my settings and they are still fine, and the clock still has GMT+1 next to it, it's just that the time is completely wrong.

Thanks for your suggestion though Barton, any more ideas?

Change the time on your settings to reflect the correct time, and not the correct time zone.

I tried It's still terribly wrong by about 5 hours for London.

What does it matter, I suppose.

I corrected the server timezone and now you should be seeing the right time and in the right timezone.

Thank you, close enough - about an hour out but that's fine. At least it's the same day/ Don't worry about it. Summer time is tricky in Europe.
