Deities and iconography
Our beliefs defined
Morphine for the masses
Lithium for our soul,
Holy men the shepherds
Like sheep we flock
We are but the same, inwardly
Blood red within you and me
Hearts beating, spirits seeking
Ideologies only separating
Fractious, the auction house of life
The sanctity of life bartered
Hatreds to the fore
Inflaming poisoned minds
Old men sending the young to die
I know not whose, champions
But feel that maybe, just maybe
If the contest need to be decided
If a victor has to be crowned
Mighty, all seeing and powerful
As gladiators they should fight
In heaven’s colosseum, to the last
And let you and I live side by side
In peace, beliefs ignored as one
This is no fight for man
For he is too fragile and flawed
Please let him be
