A perfect day dawning, sun warms us from the early morning chill
Me, my son, a day out together to do whatever it is that we will.
We pull into a small town and fill our bellies
And hit the beach, wetsuits, surfboards no need for wellies
Crystal clear water, a light offshore breeze
and plenty of waves to catch with ease
Laughter carries across the water, old friends meet
You can hear the hoots as strangers paddle in and jump to their feet.
Paddling back out a curtain of water wraps over a lucky punter
I yell and hoot wishing it was me but stoked for him I seek out another thumper
All the while my son is frothing his best surf ever where it began years ago
And still it goes on for the mystery we know
It's said only a surfer knows the feeling
But it's there for all that moment where time stops our minds just free wheeling
Wether it be sub space or praying whilst kneeling
The Perfect Day where what ever we do, there is some kind of healing.
Dedicated to all who have had that feeling, to all that will and if you understand what this is all about you'll know that life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.
Much love and respect.
