New Person needs advice
I had wet my feet in the lifestyle back in 1996 when I had studied BDSM for a term paper for a correspondence course and got a B on it because it was a day late, though the teacher praised me for thinking out of the box. It was my intwention to keep the paper and the sources, but unfortunately I turned my back for a brief moment, and all my hard work was stolen. I guess what I am asking is if anyone has any advice for a new person to the Scene, and if there are any wersites which lean to helping those new.

I think you have probably come to the right spot but you may need to ask a little more specific questions. Just start reading all this site has to offer, it may be all you need but it will take a lot of reading.
And welcome to the forums.

Hello Rick,
I would recommend that you start off by reading Aesop's thread http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4529
and then take a look at the humourous take at the more common errors of some new online Doms http://www.bdsmlibrary.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5363
and then come back to us with any more specific questions which you may have.

Hi & welcome Rick. Hope you find what you're looking for.
OK who's got Rick's papers? I know it's someone here...:dont:
Yes as cariad says, just look around here- type 'bondage' into a search engine & read & learn.
Just don't believe everything you read- I personally agree with what Aesop says in his thread, but not some of the crap you read on other sites.
Find your own way- & have fun.

That is very true Tojo - there is a huge sack of possibilities, and we each take from it a different combination. The key is finding out what works for you, what works for your partner and what works within the relationship.

Aseops beginer thread is a good start, also check out www.castlerealm.com and if you goto www.wikipedia.org, and type BDSM into that, most of what they have is well written also.

I thank everyone for their advice. Greatly appreciated.
IDCrewDawg: I had dont the wikipedia search on BDSM last week, and had seen castlerealm.com mentioned often.
cariad: I thank you for the link here. I am reading Aesop's post and find it very intriguing. I thank you for your welcome.

Update so far
So far, I am pleased to report that I am learning so much more than I did in my first travels in the lifestyle in 1996. I thank A/all for T/their advice, both in the chatroom as well as here.

An extended family always helps each other learn. If we didn't how could the family grow. I know if it was for my leather family in I would still be wandering aimlessly.
