Early Exposure - Or Inspiration In MAINSTREAM Or 'Family-Oriented' Media.
Hello Folks:
I am sure that for many of you, you first learned a lot about BDSM from a lot of mainstream media - such as cinema movies and television shows. As for myself, some good examples of BDSM that I witnessed were in many mainstream productions such as THEY CAME FROM BEYOND SPACE (1967), DR. PHIBES RISES AGAIN (1972), SWAMP WOMEN (1956), ALIAS (There was a scene of female secret agent in bondage being tortured.), SCOOBY DOO (Monsters/Villains as well as heroes in bondage.), the SPEED movies, old school prime time crime shows (such as AIRWOLF, KNIGHT RIDER, T.J. HOOKER, HAP AND LEONARD, THE FALL GUY, MATT HOUSTON, MAGNUM, P.I., THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, ENOS, HAWAII FIVE-O , MIAMI VICE, etc.), GUNS OF PARADISE, POSSE (1993) and countless other 'family-oriented' Western movies and television shows (that showed women tied up on the train tracks and/or in saloons), WONDER WOMAN (Magic lasso!), 'MRS. ZORRO', etc. What mainstream media is partly responsible for giving you the 'BDSM Bug'? :crop: ;pank ;pant;

I remember fondly the Avengers TV serie.

No, I didn't learn about BDSM from mainstream media. None of the examples you have given have anything at all to do with consensual sexual relationships. I first encountered the idea of BDSM from pornography. I learned a lot about BDSM from websites like this one.
