Public humiliation

I'm going to throw a topic out there fairly briefly for once and keep most of my own thoughts to myself for now. The topic is when humiliation becomes public, I've noticed a lot of subs are excited by this, and yet it's one of the kinky activities I have most doubts about - even though I happen to be a great fan of humiliation play in general.

First a clarification: when I say public I mean chiefly vanilla public, things happening among us perverts are more simple in this department.

Now there's a lot of general issues about humiliation, safety-messures to keep in mind, things to do in order to ensure the well-being of the consenting victim and that is not what I would like to discuss here. Of course there are extra things to keep in mind when the humiliation is public, but they are of the same sort, and discussed in threads like this:

But since the humiliation is happening in public, among nilla peoples, what about their safety and consent?

Obviously public humiliation has to be about the consenting victim, about what goes on with her (/him) - if it's about distressing a lot of innocent bystanders I think it's basically forreign to the concept of SSC. But the charm of the publicity is the risk of being found out, of others noticing you're robbed of your dignity... the fact that others who have not asked for it will see you being treated like a slave/whoretoy/cumbucket/etc.

Now I can see some small humiliations like the 'wearing unmatched clothes' mentioned in the thread I linked and so on is not a problem. Perhaps the 'smelling of sex' or 'wearing a toy' is also so much in the subs own mind rather than the public that it's not much of an issue. But where do we draw the line?

Is it in general acceptable to involve others in our play like this?

While general debate is encouraged examples and tips may be lovely as well.

I think that the degree to which this can be a "problem" among the vanilla population depends greatly on the specific environment. In the middle of day on the street, overt cumbucket-type humiliation crosses a line that will induce the local authorities to start informing the participants of their rights vis a vis silence and attorneys. Mileage may vary depending on country as well. In a nightclub- even a vanilla one- where the whole environment is much more adult, there's a lot more leeway. Picking a place where you know the clientele (and if possible the management) can make it a lot easier to gauge how far you're able to push things without crossing a line that distresses rather than piques the resident population. I know I've gotten away with things in a club where I was more or less "regular" (pun intended) that would have gotten me kicked out of the local mall. ;)

When talking about public humiliation I presume that all others affected by it also are consenting too it.

So no not among vanilla in a way that they have to experience anything might be out of the ordinary.

It really depends on the level i guess, and whether the public actually sees. In my mind its not the public actually noticing that would get me going, but instead the risk involved. For example, if i had a toy in me in public, the thrill would be that i am in public with the toy/s in and Master having the controls to choose when it will effect me. I will try my hardest not to show what is going on, but thats the delight in it for me.
