*smile* well, it's an interesting idea. however.. uh.. i dont think it'll tell you how many of each are here. i would think it's more likely to tell you how many of each answer polls *smile*
but that ought to be interesting to know too. who answers what type of question? preferences in forum usage, etc.
id've answered except..well.. im a female slave and.. though alot of people choose to use the word interchangably with sub, it really is quite different. but plus one female slave in your heads when you look at the results *smile*
Like ID said, there's not enough options. Seems you left Switches out all together and if I were a Switch, which I'm not, I'd feel my persuasion didn't matter to anyone, and it does.
And llike alpha said, there are submissives and slaves and Masters and Doms. (although I truly think that Doms consider themselves Masters *shrugs.) Afterall, a lot of subs call their Doms, Master. Okay, I'm getting confused now. *giggles
After viewing the poll I see that my assumption was correct. There are lots more subs than Doms.
Sorry, I'm new to this BDSM stuff so I didn't think slave and sub were all that differnet. :-(

It can be very hard to disquinguish as there are many areas that people fit into in this life style.. Just as any life style.. I know i even probably didn't get them all.. And i am sorry if i did miss any... Maybe do a thread asking what types should have been the best thing before running a poll... Just a suggestion..
But telling people if they are 50/50 not to vote when dealing with a switch can be a bit hurtful..

could someone specify the difference between a slave and a sub? I've heard many times (and in many places) that they're not the same, but I've yet to her the differences laid out for me. Is anyone in a position to fill me in?
i was going to stay off here tonight but alright, i'll bite *smile*:
a slave is someone who is owned. and that's pretty black and white, either you belong to yourself or you belong to someone else.
a submissive is someone who belongs to themselves but submits themselves to someOne else's descisions at given times, and given areas of their life. sometimes almost all the time, but ultimately they are their own responsibility to some degree. there are all sorts of shades of grey when it comes to submissives and how far it goes with their Dom/me/Top/Master/Mistress/etc and how they choose to exspress their submission but the key difference is that they still have an underlying ownership of themselves. they may commit to someOne to whatever depth, whatever form of exspression, but at the end of the day they are their own person and ...they need to watch out for themselves and their own interests to whatever degree.
i think it's a huge difference, personally, but.. i guess not everyone agrees. *shrugsmile* please dont flame me too bad. it IS a local holiday after all *L*
Yeah, I'm gonna have to sharply disagree with that. Ultimately all people own themselves. Even a slave chooses to be in the relationship, and chooses not to end it even when they're unhappy.
The only real difference has to do with to what extent the sub-or-slave can say "no" to one thing without saying "no" to the entire relationship. But even on that scale there's no sharp line with subs on one side and slaves on the other.
It really comes down to just a matter of personal style. Some people like the "feel" of ownership and slavery, some don't. And that preference is only loosely correlated with things like depth of submission.
Having thought about the poll options, I would have to say that I am none of the above.
I am just a man who, for some reason, just happens to have females offer themselves to me — mind, body and soul — and who, as a result, currently just happens to own two as slaves; my property to do with as I will.
With but a little twist of fate, I could just as well be sitting here saying I'm a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker.
Labels are a convenince but I think it is important to remember that, while they may represent the truth, they are not neceessarily truth itself.
PS: *frowning at self* God that must sound pedantic. I think maybe I just got out of bed the wrong side today. Methinks this may be a good day for me to go collecting some of the money people owe me *wicked grin*
