Starting out (sort of)

Hello.

My husband and I are kinda new to BDSM. We've read some things on here and on the internet but the only BDSM we have done so far is spanking and using furry handcuffs. We're curious how others started on the road?

My start was unusual I am sure. In high school a dear friend of mine was stuck in a wheel chair due to being one of the last awful victims of that disease called polio. Hell of a nice guy bright with a very quick wit. A cheerleader decided for no real reason to belittle him in the school dining room with a 3rd of the school there.

I spent 3 weeks getting a date with her, she was afraid of me and my reputation but also intrigued with the idea of a bad boy for a fling. She did not want to go to anyplace where she could be seen with the likes of me, so I suggested a nice safe drive in movie.

An hour or so into the movie I had her clothes off and her in a vanilla form of subspace. Hard thing to do but I was still in my clothes when I reached over and opened the door then opened the passenger door and left her there with the dome lights on and a bunch of friends there for the viewing.

I first got into BDSM by the spanking route, and then slowly, very slowly, into other things like bondage, candles, dungeons, roleplay ... all the things I used to fantasise about but never had the courage to try.

I waited a long time to make my dreams reality; and I am so glad I did.

I got into it from books first. Story of O definitely captivated me in my early teens, and when I was about 22 or so I had my first RL experience with a girl that was just as willing to experience it with me as I was with her.
We had a good time exploring together.

first actual experience was taking her wrists in one hand a breast in the other squeezing both hard enough to let her realize that I was in charge. Her response was dramatic in that she climaxed right then and told me she had never felt like that before.

As many others, I (fairly recently) discovered this world because my partner was experienced. Before this, with other people, there was some mild bondage, some "playing rough" but all very, very nice and vanilla.
It can be difficult for an experienced partner and an unexperienced newbie to get up to each other's speeds, but we managed well. I'm still learning daily, and enjoying it hugely.
Some things are slowly built towards, some, well, you just go off the deep end. It's very exciting to explore limits, I hope that feeling never goes away... I think you never stop learning and growing, individually, as partners and as a unity.
